Mention Rate is the percentage of AI responses that mention a brand, regardless of position. A 72% Mention Rate means the brand was mentioned in 72 out of every 100 relevant AI responses.

Overview

In DecaGEO, a mention is counted only when AI recommends the brand as a solution to a category question. Simple name-drops, negative references, and comparison filler are excluded — so Mention Rate measures how often you’re genuinely recommended, not how often your name appears.

How Mention Rate is calculated

The count runs over all responses collected for the category in the same weekly window.

Why Mention Rate matters

It’s your AI share of voice

When buyers ask AI about your category, this is the share of answers you’re part of — benchmarked against every competitor on the chart.

It separates frequency from position

Where the DECA Score weights each recommendation by its position, Mention Rate ignores position entirely. Read together, they tell you whether a weak score comes from being absent or from ranking low when present — so you work on the right problem.

Inclusion comes first

You can’t rank high in answers you’re not part of. Mention Rate shows whether AI includes you at all — the first thing to build when starting from low visibility.

Segment Position

Your rank inside a specific buyer segment, not just the overall chart.
